Y.e.s. These are the colors we've been waiting for! Muted tones are beautiful hues like pastel pink, purple, and blue; and I actually look at these colors as "neutrals". How is that possible you say? Well, since muted colors have gray undertones and are desaturated by having more white in their pigment, it is very easy to use the calming hues in the same way you would with gray or white. They can compliment other colors and true neutrals, like black.
You can pair multiple muted colors together, use just one as a subtle and unique paint color, or display decorative items in these shades. The best part about this trend is that it is easy to use no matter what your personal design style is! My favorite use of muted pastels is when they are paired with anything vintage, especially antique furniture and rustic wood! Since they are not overwhelming in saturation, muted pastels can work very nicely in large amounts or in combination with other colors. I challenge you to use muted pastels in areas of your home as a neutral!
